Flourishing Teams: achieving more together

This program multiplies team performance and enables sustained team excellence and success. Using strengths-based approaches we build shared purpose, motivation and commitment, and maximise collaboration, efficiency and allocation of resources.

Why is this program valuable to organisations?

Organisations understand that teams can achieve more together than as a group of individuals. Making this work in practice is the difficult part! This program will help your teams evolve behaviours, goals and outcomes from a “me” to “we” orientation, through a focus on individual and team strengths.

A focus on strengths improves relationships, communication, collaboration and trust. It boosts performance and unlocks talent through better understanding of each other, a focus on team success and identifying team potential.

Studies show that when leaders focus on their team members’ performance strengths, performance is 36.4% higher compared to a 26.8% decline when emphasising weaknesses. In fact, 55% of the high performing teams believe that building on their strengths is the best way to succeed.

Teams who are strong already can find competitive advantage through further building cohesion, and improving effective allocation of tasks. This program will promote sustained strong performance over time and ensure teams will continue to flourish in times of high pressure, uncertainty or change.

Discovery and sharing of individual strengths

We use a range of industry-leading strengths assessments to uncover individual strengths.

•Individuals will understand their own strengths profile and how to harness these in service of their own performance and work wellbeing

• Sharing of strengths helps team members understand what motivates their colleagues, where they can support, and how to use the team diversity to advantage (rather than conflict)

Understanding the collective strengths of the team.

We use a range of industry-leading strengths assessments to uncover team strengths. This helps understand what’s contributing to the current success of the team, and to identify team blind spots. We help the team to:

• Identify realised and unrealised team strengths and develop opportunities to leverage and build them further

• Identify threats to success and develop a plan to overcome or minimise their impact

Developing a shared vision of success.

Through developing a shared identity as a team with a united and motivating joint mission, we help evolve the team system from “me” to “we”. We further help build commitment and motivation from the team towards this aim.

This program works very well when individual strengths assessment debriefs are conducted prior to a team workshop. We also recommend debriefing the team leader on the team report prior to the workshops. Workshops are a minimum of a full day to deliver on the full promise outlined. Two days is even more effective as the team learns and grows together. We also work with organisations post-workshop to help embed changes over time.

Research findings supporting this program

98% of employees want their employer to recognise their strengths.
When leadership fails to focus on individuals’ strengths, the odds of an employee being engaged are 9%, but when they focus on strengths it rises to 73%.
In teams, strengths use improves relationships, communication and teamwork.
People who use their strengths every day are six times more likely to be engaged in their work, meaning they get more satisfaction and feel more committed.
Engaged employees use their strengths at work around 70% of the time – that’s 6 ½ hours a day!
People who use their strengths are 38% more likely to be productive.
When performance conversations with managers focus on weaknesses, performance can decrease by 26%, but when individuals speak about their strengths it increases by 36%.
Individuals who use their strengths are more likely to achieve their goals, are more effective at developing and growing, and are less stressed and more resilient.
